About us

The issue

Inclusion Signpost has a very specific focus. It aims to enable consumers to save, spend and manage their money in a way that works for them regardless of circumstance. This continues to be a challenge in the United Kingdom where:

► 1.3 million are financially excluded
► 3.5 million are underserved
► 8 million are reliant on a Basic Bank Account

In the past, consumers often found they had no choice, or no access, to financial services which we all need to get paid, build up a credit rating, receive benefits, access cheaper prices and manage money efficiently. Today, there are a multitude of committed providers offering services and access to consumers who were historically poorly catered for.

Inclusion Signpost recognises the financial services and technology companies providing quality transactional accounts to excluded and underserved consumers. But, more importantly it offers a trusted means for consumers to know what financial tools are available to them.

Inclusion Signpost

Inclusion Signpost is an accreditation that is not affiliated to any commercial organisation. It is run in association with the independent online comparison site SignpostNow, is managed operationally by the payments industry body Emerging Payments Association, and is overseen by a judging panel of industry experts who offer their services in a voluntary capacity.

Emerging Payments Association (EPA)

Inclusion Signpost is the outcome of collaboration between Project Inclusion (a project run by the Emerging Payments Association, with the support of our Founding Benefactor, Mastercard) with relevant organisations, including payments companies, government bodies and organisations that support UK residents without banking access

Project Inclusion is facilitated by the Emerging Payments Association (EPA). The EPA is a commercial membership association of payments industry influencers. Its community has over 130 members from across the payments value chain in the UK and internationally; including payments schemes, banks and issuers, merchant acquirers, PSPs, retailers, and more. The EPA runs more than 70 events each year, delivers eight industry projects to drive change, helps to connect the ecosystem, encourages innovation and profitable business growth. As it sets out to be the most influential trade body in emerging payments, the EPA’s mission, to collaborate to innovate, has the potential to improve lives everywhere.

SignpostNow is an online comparison tool, enabling consumers to compare transaction accounts and payments products, regardless of their credit rating, income or circumstances. The service is provided by the payments community working together, in partnership with the Emerging Payments Association, to make sure everyone receives fair access to the right financial services. It has been developed in response to our frustration that, in 2018, there after decades of debate people continue to struggle to get access to quality financial services.
